Full Moon, Full Hearts

Fiona:

Today I woke up and Do was about to cook breakfast so I helped. Well I actually did all of it. I made a frittata and chopped up some fruit. Then when we served breakfast my mom took a picture of me in front of breakfast. Then we ate breakfast, it was really good.

Then we went for a family swim around the boat like we do every morning.

After that me and April did school for a while. A few hours later we went to the Full Moon party and danced for a long time. I had a great day today and can't wait for tomorrow.

Laura:

Today was a pleasant day for sailing. After our morning routine and refilling our water tanks at Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, we sailed for approximately four hours all across the northern shore of Tortola to Trellis Bay on the east end.

We were destined for the Full Moon party on the beach. When we arrived, the harbour was full of boats and we managed to get one of the last few available mooring balls. This was a reassuring sight, given the need for the recovery of BVI tourism following Hurricane Irma.

At this traditional party, held every time there is a full moon, they light big fires in giant metal firepits on the beach. There was a DJ at one venue and live music at another.

It was an interesting and unique experience post Irma, to see so much genuine celebration of the day, in spite of the fact that there is still so much destruction and debris.

Do & Luffy broke out the dance moves with the girls.

Here April & Do are doing a re-enactment of a fun night dancing here at the Full Moon party in 2011 (the venue is now closed due to hurricane damage).

Now vs Then:

How about the joy and enthusiasm in this 3 year old dancing with her grandma (2011)!

The ride back to our dingy was beautiful with the brightness of the moon reflecting on the water, and the brightness of the fun and laughter from the night.

Only Love. xo
