To the British Virgin Islands

We flew from Miami to St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands on a nice big 737 this morning. Then we checked in for our 15 minute flight from St. Thomas to Tortola, BVI. Air Sunshine is a pretty small operation. Their planes are small too but luckily we were on their largest aircraft...

Part of the check in process consists of them weighing every checked bag, carry on, purse and granola bar you have with you to get the exact weight of everything you are bringing on the plane and then asking the weight of every person in your party too.

Boarding was uneventful but an hour late with no explanation (island time) and then we were up, up and away.

What has always been a 45 minute ferry ride for us from St. Thomas to Tortola was just over 15 minutes by plane and a great view! We were over familiar territory within less than 10 minutes and lining up to land at the Beef Island Airport.

Once on the ground, we were the only people going through BVI customs in a very small, quiet airport.

After a quick taxi ride to our boat, we dropped off our bags while the taxi waited and headed back out for a quick dinner at a great little place on the water we had never been to before called Red Rock. I will not list all our dinners but have to mention that I had lobster and grits and it was amazing (being someone that loves lobster and loves grits).

Then back to the Hodges Creek Marina and onto our 45 foot Lagoon catamaran, "Peace Out", to unpack, settle in and prepare to cast off tomorrow. All in all it was a long travel day but fun and we are so excited to start sailing.

Stay tuned!
